No more gym membership means being a bit more creative with my work outs at home. Men's Health published this slide show of 10 Incredible At-Home Weight-Loss Exercises. Some are olders, but goodies, but others are new to my cheap workout arsenal. How tos were helpful to make sure you've got proper form and are maximizing the payout.
- Pushups - works your chest, shoulders, triceps, abs, lower back and glutes
- Bodyweight Squats - good for you even without added weight, and better form too. Builds quads, hammys and glutes while burning fat
- Pull-ups - strength and endurance exercise that works back, biceps
- Step-ups - you just need a step for this power burning strengthening exercise
- Plank - works the core just by holding the pose. Yogis will tell you you really have to focus on your breathing to hold this one
- One-Leg Romanian Deadlift - great balancing exercise that also strengthens and increases flexibility
- Stick-Up - had to laugh at this one at first. It really doesn't look hard, but after enough reps it burn, you stand leaning with back against the wall and raise your arms up and down over your head, sounds easy, right? It really works the back
- T Pushup - a spin on the push-up, great for abs and arm strength
- V-up & Roll - a smarter (read harder) take on the crunch; lie flat on back stretching arms overhead and the fold body up to touch your toes
- Shoulder Press Pushup - you need a bend for this one too, tough on the wrists, but good workout for the upper body
