Bartering Website - No Money Needed

Submitted by: anonymous  03/05/2009 6:03 PM

I found an awesome site! FavorPals.com Need dental work? Barter for it.
LadyofGrace

Editor's Note: We wanted to know more about the Favor Pals concept, so we checked it out. It is a really interesting site that could be a great alternative when money is tight. Their tagline, Favorpals, a world without money - imagine a world where you can get anything you want by simply giving something in return, sums up their mission quite well. They provide a platform where you can offer your skills and services in exchange for items or services that you need.

A few offers listed today:
  • a professional private snowboard lesson for a lift ticket and maybe a ride to the mountain!
  • female hair cut and style by a good stylist for authentic italian meal for 4 people
  • dental work for any office Admin. work
You can browse by category or location (available in the United States, Canada, France and the UK) or just scan through recent posts. This is a great alternative to the cash economy we have been living in. Thanks for the tip LadyofGrace!

What would you barter for and what services could you provide in exchange? Share your thoughts below:

I have been trying to set up a website like this for own home town! Everyone has something to offer; babysitting, cooking, cleaning, raking, etc. and if we don't start hooking up with our neighbors we are losing infinite amounts of treasure in these folks! Not only do we get some exchange of goods/services, we get to become friends with the people we live near! You always need a friend and being a friend is just as important! Thanks for the site!

This site is really an "eye opener," and a very timely one for the serious saver, at that!

I've been exchanging chores with friends, ie free babysitting in exchange for lawn mowing for years. Hopefully this idea will catch on.

Our community (in southern NH) has a bartering-services system called The People's Service Exchange. There are a few hundred members, and when you sign up, you list the skills you have to offer. You don't trade directly with the person who helps you; instead, hours of service are tracked, and you can cash in the hours you have helped others for any service in the entire network. It's pretty amazing.

I requested a massage and the tires changed on my car. And when someone needed help moving, I got a call. I also helped a member with their housecleaning.

The program is well run, it's easy to use, and it saves money.

This is a cool site, but there absolutely nothing in Erie, PA. So this site won't help me in the least. There is however 1 offering but can't help the person by providing printer ink for his HP printer.
