Free Airfare Using Your Credit Card

Submitted by: anonymous  03/13/2009 8:30 PM

If you can be disciplined and pay your card off every month this is a great way to save tons of money. I use my airmiles cards by using them for my everyday purchases (bills like phone, tv, internet, electricity, food and gas).

I have a couple credit cards that offer airfare after accumulating airmiles, typically one mile for every dollar spent. Alot of times there will be offers where you can obtain a few thousand miles at a time.

One card I use is Capital One. There are no black-out dates. You can use any airline you want. Just pay for your airfare with your visa card and call Capital One. Within a week you will have the money posted to your account. If you time it right you won't have a bill to pay. The current rates are up to a $350 purchase (after taxes) for 35,000 miles and up to $600 is 60,000.

A good way to obtain points is to make a major purchase and then move it onto a 0% or a very low interest rate offer and then pay it off. If you spend $15,000 that is at least 15,000 miles.

It is a fun way to get something for nothing. Most airmiles cards have high interest rates. The better credit you have will help you in shopping for the best card suitable for your needs.

Questions:

Did you mean you have to use a visa credit card, or a capital one visa?

What about a cap1 master?
