Homemade, Natural Decorations

Submitted by: anonymous  03/15/2009 10:06 PM

I live in a rural area. I have never purchased a Christmas decoration. I decorate solely with greens ,berries and anything natural I can find. Friends have actually encouraged me to send pictures of my home to decorating magazines. We have the old fashioned Christmas that I believe everyone really wants. If you don't live in a rural area, maybe you know someone who does. This year I dried grapefruit and orange slices in my oven. I collected pine cones and tied bunches of dried tansy.I also spray painted milk weed pods gold. These were the decorations for one of the two trees in my home.I admit it was a labor of love, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. To me this is really Christmas.

I love natural and handmade Holiday decor. Branches and pine cones found on the ground around your neighborhood or park can be spray painted in colors to coordinate with your decor theme. The addition of babbles, ribbons, and little embellishments add personal style.
