Indoor/Outdoor Garden Kits

Submitted by: Tip Hero  03/16/2009 3:45 PM

TipHero reader, Lilian, tipped us off to the EarthBox growing kit in her comment in response to 20 Healthy Foods for Under $1.
Apartment dwellers can buy an Earth Box, I have one and it is super. Check their webpage and read all about it. They are a bit expensive now but you can also find how to make your own out of plastic containers you store clothes in.

The EarthBox is a low maintenance at-home gardening kit that can help offset rising grocery prices. The design requires less water and less fertilizer than conventional gardens. The purchase price on their website ranges from $54.95 to $59.95.

Other kits on the market are The Garden Patch, similar to the EarthBox, providing hassle-free gardening for $29.95/kit, and the AeroGarden, a much pricier indoor gardening kit at about $130 and up.

Or try making your own EarthBox following these instructions at Instructables.com. Particularly clever is the suggestion of using bamboo poles instead of pvc pipes to keep the pvc chemicals away from your plants.

Enter to win a free Earthbox now through March 30th at Organic Gardening.com.
