Free Bike Maintenance Class at REI

Submitted by: justinsvr  03/10/2009 9:29 AM

REI (the sports store) offers lots of free classes. I took the basic bike maintenance class that taught you basic stuff, how to change a flat, how to adjust your brakes. Good introduction to taking care of your bike and great for a free class. Go to REI Store Locator then click on the store nearest you and you should see some links to "What's Happening at Your REI" to see if they offer this class. A good way to save on bike maintenance costs.

This is the description of the class I took:

"Learn how to diagnose your bike's needs to get it ready for those long days of biking you have ahead of you. An REI Technician will go over practical applications in regards to season long maintenance for wheel and tires, drive train, and brakes. If you are tired of having to take your bike in to the shop every time you get a flat, this is the class for you.

Interested in something a little more technically challenging? Then sign up for our Cycling Mechanics Workshop.

The Basic Bike Maintenance clinic is FREE and open to all, but space will be limited to 30 participants."

This must be a new policy. I paid for the course in 2003 but the course was 4 hrs long and I was the only registrant. It was a great course.
