No Cost Appliance Covers

Submitted by: dhodak  03/19/2009 2:11 PM

I gather a few extra plastic bags from the meat department at my grocery store and use them to cover countertop appliances. When they get dusty or dirty I can just dispose of them and they are a great alternative to the fabric covers.

Not really ethical to "gather a few extra". Okay to reuse the ones your veggies came in.

Make or buy fabric covers which will be so much more attractive. Throw them in the wash when they get get dusty.

I'm all for saving a nickel, but covering my counter-top appliances with plastic bags just wouldn't work for me.
Splurge a wee bit on some extra nice tea-towels (some of them are almost too pretty to use as tea-towels) and cover with those. If you're even a tiny bit crafty, stitch them here and there to fit. Washable and re-usable for years....retire to the rag-bin when they are tired or if you redecorate.

On another note....I don't cover mine anyways. If it's an appliance that is un-used for long enough periods to gather dust...put a plastic bag over it and get it off the counter. =))))
