BCBS Pays $150 for Gym Memberships

Submitted by: kylie265  03/23/2009 11:38 AM

As part of my Blue Cross/Blue Shield health coverage, I get reimbursed $150/year for gym membership fees as part of the Healthy Benefits Program (this is the link for MA). You can also get reimbursed for some weight loss programs like weight watchers as well. Worth finding out if you qualify for this too.

If you do, you can send in your form in May along with receipts for 4 months worth of gym membership. I send copies of my credit card statement b/c I pay with credit card.

Just be aware that Blue Cross Blue Shield is an association of plans, and they don't all offer the same benefits. I happen to work for a diffent Blues plan, and we don't have a benefit for gym membership.

It's a great idea to familiarize yourself with any special benefits your health plan has to offer. Many do have wellness programs which can help you make more informed choices about lifestyle choices and health care.
