Free Heat From Your Oven

Submitted by: anonymous  04/03/2009 10:23 AM

After using my oven for cooking I always leave the door open and let the heat flow into the kitchen.

I also use the self clean feature only right before I plan to use the oven. Then the oven is preheated. Most ovens that are self clean can be cleaned with oven cleaner as well, if you so desire. Just check with the manufacturer.

In the winter time when you are trying to heat the house, leaving the oven open will not save you any more than if you just shut off the oven and left the door closed. The oven's heat gradually will work its way into the rest of the house in either case, and in exactly the same amount. If you want to warm up the kitchen for a short time, open the oven door.
