DIY Starch to Save On Dry Cleaning

Submitted by: anonymous  04/05/2009 10:33 PM

I iron my husbands dress shirts and he wears one each day for work. This saves about $10.00 in dry cleaning costs and takes about a half an hour.

I made a light spray starch just to help remove wrinkles and give the shirts some body. Take an old spray bottle and fill it with water, add three teaspoons of cornstarch. You can add more cornstarch if you need to.

Do you have to use warm water or just room temperature?

Warning: Do Not Use This Spray On Dark Shirts. I used this on a black shirt. It left white speckles everywhere. I have used this on light and white shirts with great success. If you add a few drops of mint or lemon essential oil it smells great too.
