i buy clothes a bigger size than i need then sew the pants to smaller size and let out the hem as they grow bigger i let it out.....and alawys buy coats at least two sizes larger when on sale just before spring time for next year.

What you have mentioned is good tip. But i would suggest some home made remedies like give a good rub down with soda water till the stain discolours and then wash as usual, milk stain can be removed by washing the cloth thoroughly in cold water and then use an enzyme based washing powder. By using such tips, you can make clothes last longer.

instead of buying my kids pants to big I but them to fit. That way while they look good one the kids they can wear them to church and other dress up occasions. When the pants start to get to short I cut off the legs of a pair that they have worn holes into the knees and sew these on to the bottoms of the pants. The cut off pants are them saved for summer. Because my kids are very thin and they tend to pick one pair of pants that they want to wear all the time this usually works best for me.
