9 Skin Rituals Pros Do at Home (Glamour.com)

Submitted by: designermavin  04/13/2009 10:20 PM

I saw this on Glamour.com: "9 Skin Rituals Pros Do at Home."

These ones worked great for me:

  • For Blotchy Cheeks: mix a few drops of Visine with 1 tbsp of water and pat on face with a cotton ball this shrinks the inflamed blood vessels

  • DIY Hydrating Mask: grate cucumber skins and mix with plain yogurt, leave on for 20 minutes for an extra hydrating mask that you can use weekly

  • Chapped Lip Fix: pop open a vitamin e capsule and rub it on your lips, much more soothing than a chapstick

A GREAT alternative to high priced exfoliants...crush an aspirin tablet (I buy 100 for a dollar at Dollar Tree) but getting it wet with a few drops of water...mix with a few drops of your favorite moisturizer...and GENTLY polish face. Leave on a minute or two..then rinse and pat dry. This takes away skin flakes, etc. and is very gentle- as long as you aren't allergic to aspirin! It leaves your skin glowing..and the salicylic acid acts as an anti-acne agent. For just a little more than a penny...your skin will glow!!

Another "facial" or exfoliation idea: I add a tiny pinch of baking soda to my creamy facial cleanser and wash as usual. I massage the mixture all over my face and neck, rinse, and apply moisturizer. It really cleanses and exfoliates my oily skin thoroughly, yet it doesn't overstrip/dry out, either--my skin is quite sensitive. Paula Bergoun (of Don't Go To the Cosmetics Counter Without Me fame--she has her own makeup and skincare line as well) advocates adding baking soda to Cetaphil cleanser; I "poached" her idea!

The vitamin capsule works awesome. I had some kind of rash on my face and it was bad. I started using 1 cap of vitamin e oil right after washing in the morning, in a couple of days the rash was almost gone. Now winter is here I still do the same process and have no trouble with winter dry skin. this really works great
