The Best Deal on Deli Meats

Submitted by: anonymous  05/16/2008 1:27 PM

Until recently, whenever I have purchased food for sandwiches, I’ve gone to the deli counter and had my meats and cheeses cut for me. It’s probably just out of habit, as this is what my parents did when I was a kid. My wife recently informed me that it’s cheaper to purchase cheese in the dairy section and to slice it yourself or get cheese that is packaged as pre-sliced vs. having the person working at the deli do it for me. I still get my meat from the deli (for some reason, having it sliced in front of me makes me think it’s fresher, and I also think that the meat that is pre-packaged is much higher in sodium).

I work in a deli, and if you come in and ask for cheese or meat ends *our store* charges $1.49 a lb.
