8 Ways to Cook with a Can of Fruit

Submitted by: Tip Hero  04/19/2009 4:52 PM

Okay, so if you're like us, you have a random can or two of fruit that you picked up somewhere along the way but now can't remember where. And in all likelihood, you're going to let it sit in your cupboard or pantry for another two months or two years or even longer. Well, thanks to the folks over at Wisebread.com, you can now put it to good use. Wisebread published an article that explains 8 ways that you can cook with that lonely and forgotten can of fruit.

For example, you can spruce up your meatloaf with a can of cranberries (or that gelled stuff). Or you can make sweet and sour chicken. Or even take a page out of the IHOP playbook and throw it on pancakes or waffles. Some of the dishes are specific to one type of canned fruit, while others are not.

The 8 recipes are for meatloaf and meatballs, dump cake, sweet and sour chicken, stuffed chops and breasts, pancakes and waffles, compote, jello, and bread. To find out which type of canned fruit goes with which recipe, as well as how to make the dish, click through to the link below.

And please share your recipes using cans of fruit with the Tip Hero community by submitting a comment below.
