Homemade Garden Water Container

Submitted by: Sheryl B  04/23/2009 9:55 AM

When starting seedlings, you have to carefully water them so that the seeds, which are fairly tiny, won't wash away.

If you don't have a watering pitcher, take a washed out milk plastic container and something sharp. Very carefully poke around 6 holes at the top of the container in front at the top level with the handle. Fill with water; cap it; and sprinkle the water over the seedlings.

For watering seeds & seedlings, I use a sprayer bottle, i.e., multi-purpose cleanser bottle (thoroughly washed, filled with water and set to "spray", not "stream"). Seeds won't wash away, and they get a nice even mist

For my tiny seedlings, I use a cleaned out large dishwashing detergent( such as Dawn) container. It delivers a forceful enough stream, but not forceful enough to dislodge the seedlings.

I use a dropper (like the kind you get at the pharmacy to administer the liquid medicine to babies).
