Save "Scrubbers" From Worn Out Sponges

Submitted by: frugalgramma  05/27/2009 9:36 AM

When the sponge half of a scrubber-sponge is worn out, instead of tossing the whole thing, we peel off and toss the sponge (which is easy because the sponge is deteriorated and coming apart), and keep the scrubber part for various household cleaning chores. This saves on buying scrub pads, will last for a long time, and is more appropriate than steel wool pads on many surfaces. The heavy duty scrub sponges we buy at Aldi, 2 in a package for $.99, seem to last well and the scrubber holds up for a long time afterward.
