I know somebody that sells things on their property all the time. They let others sell their stuff for a small fee. They have yard sales about every other weekend.

Had to giggle at #5! Just be sure to prevent additional expenses 9 months down the line with a bit of birth control, unless of course you want a child.

21. Game night with friends. RPGs, board games, card games, whatever. You might even learn how to hold a conversation.

22. If you have a GPS unit, go geocaching. Combine it with a hike or nature walk.

23. Play tourist in your own town. Go to the library or check the internet for local history sites, then go out and explore.

24. go digital with your arts and crafts. No paper or other supplies needed, and there are lots of freebies out there for digital scrapbookers, as well as free printable stuff for all kinds of paper crafts.

25. Be a geek. Besides podcasts, there are lots of forums, chatrooms, and blogs for just about any kind of interest. There are even live online churches.

26. Ditch your satellite TV service. There are a ton of free movies and TV shows on the web, you can get dvds from the library, and even Netflix is cheaper than what you're paying now. Bonus: Services like netflix offer streaming video at no extra charge. That and an HDMI cable to connect your computer to your TV, and you're good to go.

27. If you have a specific hobby, subscribe to free online or e-mail newsletters. It's better than paying for magazine subscriptions. One other bonus: Your favorite how-to magazine most likely has a website. Set up a free account on the site and read their articles.

Some ideas for kids...

1. If you have unpainted cement in the basement (or outside if you don't live in WI) give the kids an old paintbrush and plain water and let them "paint" the cement.

2. Take spray bottles and add a few drops of food coloring and paint the snow.

3. Have a scavenger hunt.

4. Learn something new everyday. Use your library.

5. Set up a puppet show, create a circus in your backyard, an obstical course....use what you have. No puppets use stuffed animals and dolls...use your imagination.

6. Go sledding, or skating, or biking.

7. Use your parks, have a picnic, or set up a picnic in your living room. When my neices were little we had a picnic on an old tablecloth in my living room...they are now 18 and 19 and still think it was cool. The only time they got to eat mac and cheese on the floor like a dog was at my house. They didn't learn manners, but they laughed for hours.

8. To help with the manners after you have ruined them forever, have a "proper" tea party. Little sandwhiches, cookies, tea, or milk. Make everything in miniture...it makes it more fun for the kids.
