Need to stretch a shoe? A shoe tree is best, but you can stuff a shoe with what ever is handy. But the real secret is to use a rag and saturate the area with rubbing alcohol. Or, wet the leather shoe with alcohol and wear it as you watch TV.
All shoes are hand made, even the plastic ones (except for Crocs and the knock offs). The real cost is in the material, brand name, labor (140 hands touch every boot made), and what they think they can get for them.
American Boot Company had such high standards that even and extra back sitch made the boot a second. Instead of $150 a pair, they sold for $15.
They are gone now due to out sourcing. |
