| Don’t spend money having someone or some type of service provide you with your Employer Identification Number (EIN, or sometimes referred to as your tax ID number). Do it yourself (and don’t pay a company like LegalZoom to do it for you as it’s a waste of money). Just go to the IRS’s website www.irs.gov/businesses/small/article/0,,id=102767,00.html and fill in the necessary information. If you aren’t sure how to answer all of the questions, ask someone for help (someone with an accounting background or experience starting a business – or even a lawyer might be able to help), but it’s pretty straight forward so you should be able to do it yourself. |
