Tailgate Fritos Pie, Quick & Easy Meal

Submitted by: gale osborn  06/20/2009 3:21 PM

I heard this recipe came from mom's making it for all the kids playing ball. They would gather at the backs of their trucks and hand this out. The moms would bring a crockpot of chili,
a ziplock bag of finely chopped onion,
those lunch size bags of Fritos,
plastic forks or spoons and a bag of shreaded cheese,

open the bags and pour into the bag about 3 or 4 tablespoons of chili, add onion( if the child wants it) and top off with cheese. Yum yum. Add a drink and make sure they throw it all away in the proper disposal. Quick, easy and cheap meal. I did this at church for a meeting and it was a great hit! Try this it's good!

This sounds really fun. I will have to come up with some event specifically to use it.

Have had this before--so good. The fritos make the meal. for some reason I remember we put a plastic bag inside a paper bag for insulation.

I think the Frito Pie was invented in Santa Fe, N M. They sell it from carts around the Governors's Musuem on the central plaza.
