Living in Indiana, I have always taken the Thanksgiving holiday to visit my relatives in Alabama. We get to visit with family and it saves us money either on hotel or food or both.
Most times my son stays with family so we don't have the extra cost of a larger hotel room or we stay with them if there is enough room.
We spend Thanksgiving Day with their inlaws and it only costs us ingredients for a dish to share. For the rest of the time, we buy food for meals at their house and I cook, which relieves my cousin from having to do all the cooking.
Comparing gas prices to airfare for 3, it's a much better deal. Round trip costs approx $150 for gas. |
