Clean Your Shower & Sink for Pennies

Submitted by: grammy v  08/08/2009 10:37 PM

ok. i thought this up one day when i wanted to clean my shower.

i hate stinky smelling cleaners that you need a mask and gloves to use. then it dawned on me - what is that ick in the shower and tub - it's soap scum and oiley residue. hum-guess what worked?? cheap shampoo - i used suave. i bought it for 88 cents at the local dollar general and have used it ever since.

makes the bathroom smell great too - simply wet the shower down. put some on a wet rag and wipe. didnt seem to take a lot of elbow grease either. make sure you rinse it off afterwards.....

Baking soda and vinegar also work great. Vinegar really cuts oil and baking soda gets the soap scum.

Be sure you rinse the shower well no matter what you use. Last summer I decided to use vinegar to clean my shower and then later that day took a shower. It was slippery and I fell right out of my shower!! Ouch!! Vinegar acts as a softener.

Original Dawn works great for cleaning showers, too, but I bet the shampoo does smell great. I will give it a try.

BRILLIANT!! I used Suave shampoo, too, (which I buy when it's on sale for 75 cents and then use a "$ 1.00 off 2" coupon so I get 2 bottles for 50 cents!) and an old bath scrubby poof--and it was TERRIFIC on my glass doors and wall of shower stall--just like stated above--the ick in the shower is soap scum and oily residue--which shampoo takes care of from our hair, and it was the perfect EASY solution for shower stall too---no elbow grease or hard scrubbing.

I cleaned out a linen closet and found some expired body washes. I cleaned the glass on the shower and the toilet with some of this expired product and it worked great.
