  • two long sleeved shirts, a pair of jeans and a nice sweater for a total of 1$
  • four books i will put under the xmas tree for my grandchildren-total: 1.50$
  • a nice book rack for my brother in law at xmas; 3$
  • disney princess dinner set: 75 cents
  • a very nice fluffy bathroom rug:1$
  • two nice sized buckets i can take to the garden with me for 25 cents apiece.
  • new american flag:1.50 cents
  • and a bottle of pierre cardin aftershave for the mister for 10 cents.

the guy that sold it to me said he has asthma and cant wear aftershave any more. right now i am looking for freezer boxes and a dog collar. havent found those yet,but i will ;)

I love thrift shopping, and my new fun is repurposing great finds I am tired of...I made a skirt for my daughter from an old (used before me) shirt...so cute. I turned an old sweatshirt into lounge pants for my son. And turned a beautiful dress (original price $50.00, I paid $1.00 at a garage sale) that my daughter stained after wearing half the summer, into a doll dress. I hated to get rid of it, it was SO cute. For dressy things coming up I took a beautiful dress shirt I wore last year, and added some fabric to lengthen, and some trim off a brides maid dress that will no longer fit my body after two children. It is even cuter this life cycle...and very proper for my husbands Christmas party. Just remember there are three great places to shop, the thrift store, garage sales, and your own home.

Not only is garage saling a good idea, rummage sales are as well. One other option not mentioned above is that if you see a display piece in a store that seems to be seasonal or( they are getting rid of the stock) and you think you can repurpose it into something else ask if you can have it. I recently did this with a hot pink heavy cardboard box from Big Lots. I added some ribbon and embellishments and some fake flowers and turned it into a rather cute flower vace. The base of this project which costed nothing but to ask.
