Blue Jeans Handbag on the Cheap

Submitted by: Gale Osborn  08/31/2009 9:39 PM

Make a blue jeans purse out of an old pair of jeans:

Lay the jeans out straight as possible and cut off the bottom, saving the ends of the pockets.

Turn inside out and sew across the bottom. give it a couple of rows of stitching to make it strong.

Cut a shoulder strap from the legs. Cut two the same size wide enough to turn. Place them right sides together and sew them up each side. Close one end with a slanted end. Turn the strap inside out. Sew the strap on each side of the purse. You will have to undo a belt loop on its bottom to be able to sew there.

After the strap is attached sew the loops back down.

All done, now decorate your purse. I bought beautiful belts at yard sales for no more than .50 cents. Add pretty pins, flowers or ribbon. It's up to you. I also bought a big box of jeans at a sale for $1.00. It was all you can put into a box for $1.00. I had 13 pair of jeans in my box.

My girls and granddaughters love blue jeans purses. I made my 3 year old granddaughter one from a baby pair of jeans with fringe across the bottom. It's adorable!
