Window Cleaning Tip

Submitted by: Donna Jones  09/05/2009 5:11 PM

I use windshield washer fluid for my windows in the house. Just use the Regular Cheap Blue Kind. I refill bottle and use a squeegy. Long Handle for i'm only 4'11 Tall. And it works and is cheaper than buying both kinds.

Plus i get a streak free shine everytime. The kids can even do it without streaks.

Don't use the Rain X that you use in the winter for your windows. Good for car because it doesn't freeze, but smears in the house.

good tip. i never even thought about it.

my mom cleaned houses for years and she always used a vinegar-water solution with a couple drops of dawn. she said it didn't streak, and dawn cuts any grease there may be. i use straight vinegar (the white one) and i'm happy with the results.

I use 1 part ammonia to 4 parts water. You can purchase an inexpensive spray bottle. I use it on most things. I like it for window cleaning and hard floors.

I am looking for some homemade window washing product that cleans pryex panels put on the enclosed deck (to keep the snow and rain out). It easily turns yellow when ammonia is used. Any ideas?

Concerning pryex panels. I have no knowledge what that material is however if you ask your computer, I'll bet you will find the manufacturer. Then you can ask them what works and what does not. It would be in their interest to help you. Jim

What ever cleaner you use, a combination sponge with plastic mesh for tough spots and squeegy on the flip side work fast. Use old newspaper to clean up any lines and edges of window. Jim
