Make Your Own Faux Milk

Submitted by: anonymous  10/08/2009 4:21 PM

In a 1 gallon container mix 2 cups non dairy creamer ($1for 3 cups) at the dollar store, 1 cup nonfat dry milk, 2 tbs sugar or honey, 1 tsp vanilla. add water slowly while stirring until gallon container is full. Serve as milk.
Use nonfat dry milk for cooking.

Cost is about 1.50/gallon

After kids try it, you will have trouble going back to the store bought milk. This just tastes better.

Non-dairy creamer is garbage. Where is the nutrition in this "drink"?

I tend to agree with the other posters here..how can you feel good about giving this to your kids? It's not like there's enough nonfat dry milk in this to be nutritious. Creamer is like candy, have you ever looked at the ingredient list?

Look at the ingredient list, it is chemical after chemical after chemical. I know that we are all looking for a way to save but this is not the way. In my house we do not drink alot of milk, most would go to waste and ruin before it was drank. To stop this from happening but still having milk available when needed I started using non-fat dried milk. I mix up about 1/2 gallon at a time. Keep it in the icebox for several hours to chill completely before using so it taste like the 'real' thing, which of course it is because they just dehydrated it. My son who can be rather picky at times was drinking this for about 2 months before he realized that it was powdered milk!! As long as it is cold it is good to drink.
