I shudder to think of all the money I spent on coffee and fast food. I could have had a savings account with over $10k if I had nipped it in the bud earlier.

Letting a hard day become an excuse to buy takeout. One meal for 5 gets to $30 or $40 real quick and what's worse it's junk; pizza, chinese, kfc, etc.

Clothes shopping. I wish I had discovered consignment/thrift stores years ago because I could've saved thousands of dollars by not buying brand new all the time. I have also been guilty of having unworn clothes hanging in my closet with tags still on because the item was on sale. That's another one that killed me!

Not having a real idea of where my budget stands some of the time. Spending without knowing what you really have to spend, even on essentials like groceries, can be very detrimental to one's bank account. I am getting a lot better though.....it's my number one thing to work on whn it comes to money.

ALL of the above comments could be applied to me! It's still hard for me to go to a mall and not get that 'rush' feeling or see a brand new car and think 'oh I would love a new Suburban' although my '01 which we bought for cash last year,is just fine.
The smell of brand new anything is hard for me
to ignore..but I've been doing it.
I wish I had known how to cook before now so I could have saved thousands of $$ in take out over the years. I learned to cook on Food Network and am working hard to make up for the past.

Always giving in to my wife and daughter when they wanted something - little, big - vacations. I was way too co-dependent! We wouldn't have the debt we have today if I'd put my foot down even once in a while!

If only I had saved all of the money I wasted at the casinos in 2009, I would have an additonal $10,000.00 in the bank.........I will do this nevermore, nevermore. I have learned my lesson that the casinos are not supported by winners, but us losers.

If our savings account was the amount of our credit card debt I'd be a happy camper.

My biggest indulgence is long, hot showers. But all that warm water is just so soothing...it must still be a bargain compared to therapy.

I grew up in a tourist town, thus most of the annual income was made in about 4 months. Every year, when fall gets near, I uncontrollably stock up on everything! This can be worked out to having no waste, but for a while I wasn't rotating my stock, and was throwing out food. My b/f teases me, but I assure you, we could be snowed in for a month, and wouldn't be hungry or run out of t/p!
