Fruit & Vegetable Cast-Offs from Grocers

Submitted by: anonymous  10/29/2009 6:36 PM

A few years ago when we had guinea pigs. To feed them we went to our local co-op grocery store and asked them if they had any veggie scraps in back that we could have. They'd bring out a huge boxful of fruit and vegetable scraps as well as whole fruits and veggies that may have had a few wilted leaves. Every week we'd end up eating from that box along with the guinea pigs. Try your local grocer - probably best is a small grocer or co-op or a fruit/veggie store and ask for their vegetable scraps! It's amazing what they would normally throw away!
