Drain Clogged? Here's a Simple Solution

Submitted by: anonymous  10/31/2009 2:00 AM

Just temporary, until a plumber can come up to your home. It does Work really well, unless it's a major drain problem!

1. Take 1 cup of (Arm & Hammer) baking soda, and pour it down the drain,

2. Now take white Vinegar, about 1 or 2 cups, depending on how clogged it is, and slowly pour the 1 cup of vinegar.

You will see the contents start to boil,(it won't effect the plastic or metal pipes.

3. Let it set for a few minutes, and then pour hot water into the drain.

The sink drain should unclog by then. Repeat as many times as possible, until the drain clears up.

This is also a good way to keep a drain running clear. Try doing it once a month.

If you live in a family of long hairs, you have to purchase this: Zip-it. It is a long plastic instrumet with barbs that you insert in any drain and pull out slowly the remove hair and other debris. The cost is minimal. Works immediately.

If you have a clogged sink, make sure you use BOILING WATER as a chaser. The baking soda will itself clog up if you just use the cold water from the tap waiting for the water to get hot. Microwave 4 cups of water, then pour it in.
