2nd Hand Sheets and Pillow Cases

Submitted by: Rinchen  11/09/2009 9:36 AM

I told a friend of mine that I had bought a great sheet at a yard sale for a couple of bucks. She said that was the other thing that she would never buy second hand (the first being underwear.) My comeback was what do you do when you stay in a hotel, do you bring your own sheets?

I realayed this conversation to another neighbor who travels a lot. He now takes his own sheets with him!

I buy old sheets at yard sales too, they come in handy for many things. My kids always have extra kids staying over and sleeping on the floor or in tents so we always need extra sheets and blankets. I don't want to give them my good ones. They are also handy for covering plants in early fall here to protect from frost, keep in my trunk when I transport anything dirty, protect my carpeting when needed, so many, many uses!

Have you seen those sleep sacks that are being advertised on TV? You can buy a second hand sheet and make a sleep sack to use for guests. This can be packed for travel as well. I get my sheets at resale shops to use for sleep sacks.

Used sheets and pillow cases make great sources of fabric for crafts, as well as good bedding material. You can get some really fancy/ expensive bedding for a very small price at a resale shop.

Sew some trim to the top wide seam like lace or fringe. It is good it have a king for a couch. and whalla you have a couch cover in a pinch. If you cant sew you can get the no sew seam tape that is sticky on both sides and you just peal and stick. You can even get it at walmart. Cheap and easy.
