I started in January 2009. Here is what my 25 year old daughter will receive for Christmas this year.
Five products from Bath and Body Works, purchased in February. At 75%-90% off, I spent around $15.00 for $70.00 in product.
A matted frame for her college diploma. Purchased in June. Original price $39.99. I bought it when the already discounted frame was an additional 30% off and cost $11.49.
August, a brand new set of martini glass in original box, like new, $1.00 at a yard sale.
An artists set of paints and brushes purchased at a yard sale last summer, new, never opened $10.00. Valued at $150.00.
A table top easel purchased in September from Job Lot. Originally $60.00. I paid $10.00.
A set of three small gold mirrors on ebay which cost $8.49, including shipping.
Four sets of indoor Christmas lights (she uses them all year...everywhere). Used "Friends and Family Coupon" (20% off entire purchase available now!)at the Christmas tree shop today and spent approximately $8.00 for all four.
If my math is right that's $55.98 and she'll have six nice gifts under the tree.
The other day she said she'd love a sheepskin rug for her bedroom. The size she wants is around $175.00, (best price I can find). I could always tuck some of these gifts away for her birthday and Christmas next year. I'll think about!
