Used Accessories for Kids

Submitted by: anonymous  06/11/2008 11:31 AM

One key trick to remember to save money on raising kids, is that you don't have to buy everything brand new. We don't have to be constant consumers. Most kid toys and accessories are used for such a short period of time you are generally better off buying used items if possible. Toys, bikes, tubs, clothes, strollers, can all be found used and in good condition. (A word of warning, I wouldn't recommend buying used carseats, you are best to invest in a new one--don't sacrifice safety.)
Our children will not suffer from wearing a used t-shirt--in fact they'll more likely benefit from it. Consider borrowing or swapping stuff with friends, neighbors or relatives.

Great ideas. We've gotten a little carried away and the recession has forced us to rethink where our money goes. Sounds like you already had a handle on it!
