I've never tried making homemade cough drops but have heard that plain hard candy like peppermint or lemon drops help to calm a cough.

Are there any recipes for canker sore relief?

I've read for canker sores you should try to have a diet rich in Vitamin B, ie leafy greens and whole grains, and yogurt to help prevent them.

Lynda - you could try using baking powder on canker sores to reduce the bacteria that makes it worse. Just take some water, mix it with teh powder to make a paste and then apply it to the sore.

Mouthwash rinses are good for canker sores - try 3 tablespoons water mixed with 1 tablespoon hydrogen peroxide and swish it around, then spit it out. You can do this 2-3 times a day, helps to keep it clean and heal faster.

@ Lynda, try gargling a mix of 1 tsp soda + a pinch of salt diluted in warm water.
