| Sometimes Cheaper to Buy Place Settings |

I just got married last fall and I had no idea all the costs involved in weddings!!! I didn't want to spend more than $12,000 on my wedding (which, is still a lot in my book!!)
I looked into renting place settings and linens as I thought that would be the cheapest way to go. When I got the quotes, I thought they were outrageously high. So I decided to shop around to see if I could do better on my own--and I definitely did.
I saved over $150 buying all the items myself. I found plates at Ikea for $0.99 a piece (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/60063297), so $120 for 120 guests and I love the plates, so kept 12 of them for my own use and the rest are in storage waiting for the next wedding.
I got my silverware from a commercial wholesaler on ebay--200 place settings, including salad and dinner forks, knives & spoons all for $119.90 including shipping.
For linens (tablecloths and cloth napkins), I found a great deal at Linens and things, 12 gorgeous table cloths & 150 matching napkins for a total of $198.
Afterwards I gave some sets to guests, and still use my own set.
So all told $440 for table settings and best part is that I still have something to show for that $440!!
