Any Ideas on Finding Cheap Last Minute Vacations?

I am on a tight budget, and the costs of travel over school vacations is really expensive, so was wondering if anyone had ideas or tips on finding last minute vacations. I'd like to fly our family of four somewhere warm for a long weekend. Thanks.

if you don't mind where you are going or can go mid-week you can search for last minute deals and usually find a good deal.

We haven't done this since we have had kids, but my husband and I used to drive places and when we got tired of driving we would ask for a room at discount... we did have a AAA card, but we normally stayed at really nice places.

The best deal was a three hundred dollar room, and breakfast, for $65.00. They didn't think they would have many more people coming in after 10:00. We relaxed in the hot tub, and slept well. Breakfast is always better when it's free, and it was fun to get a great deal.

I might not be as spontaneous with kids, but then, if they are older I might. Never to early to start them on money management...even on vacation.
