I use small plastic cups mixed with jam (grape) and some boric acid powder. The
ants feast and return to their nest and poison the colony......

I've used instant grits. When the ants eat it & it gets wet it expands.
They feed it to their queen & she dies.......

Outline entrances with chalk (blackboard chalk). For some reason, the ants do
not like to walk over the chalk line.

I've used a thin layer of molasses and brown sugar. When the ants walk through
it, it's like flies, they get stuck.

They also seem reluctant to cross a line of cinnamon.
And, for nests in the ground you can sprinkle borax all around the entrances.

I've tried mixing sugar, water, and boric acid, and making a syrup, but the
ants wouldn't touch it.
I've also tried honey and cornmeal, which the ants love. Unfortunately I still
have ants, so I'm not sure if I killed any of them or just made them very happy.

Just let the poor ants be. They have family too. They love, have fear, laugh,
cry in their little ant brains. Perhaps to some alien power we are like ants.

Here is a simple Natural Ant Control Remedy.
I know a man who attacked the problem "head on".
He needed to be outside for a cigarette, so, he would make war on the fire
ants. He would kick the mound over, then light-up.
He would puff and wait untill the area was covered with defenders- and burn
them with a propane tourch. He would return when they had rebuilt and repeat.
Other people informed him that he would need to kill the queen before he would
be rid of the mound. He disagreed. He knew the colony could not afford to keep
loosing workers faster than they could be replaced. He was relentless. If there
were any survivers they fled.
I worry about telling people not to smoke in here......
