3 Creative Uses for Aspirin

If you have aspirin hanging around in your medicine cabinet, you may be able to put it to good use even if you haven't had a headache in a while. Aspirin (real aspirin, like Bayer, not ibuprofen or acetaminophen) can help flowers live longer, remove stains and ease the sting of bug bites. Flower Power: crush a few aspirin tablets using the back of a spoon and add the powder to a vase filled with water. The salicylic acid from the aspirin will help keep the water clean and help your freshly cut flowers stay longer!

Stain Removal: for sweat stains, crush a couple of aspirin and mix them into a half a cup of warm water. Use this mixture to saturate the stain for a few hours, then wash the clothing as you would. For egg stains, scrape off as much of the stain as you can, then make a paste of crushed aspirin and water. Spread the paste over the stained area and work it in with a soft toothbrush. Rinse it with warm water to finish.

Pest Control: you can soothe the itch of a mosquito bite or a bee sting by wetting a pill of aspirin and setting it directly on the bite.
