Tell Your Cell Phone Company You've Been Offered a Better Deal

Submitted by: journeygirl65  07/17/2008 12:42 PM

I do this every time my contract is about to expire & they ALWAYS offer me really expensive new phones without any fees at all. This year I got 3 brand new slider phones that have cameras & music storage for myself & my family. These phones retailed for about $300 each & they sent them to us without shipping or upgrade fees..... They also kept us on the same plan for the same price I've been paying since I joined the company 6 years ago.... We get 1000 minutes between the 3 of us for under $80 a month!!

What service provider did you find who offered you this deal at the same rate you were paying earlier?! I have called Cablevision re my Optimum Triple Play and was bounced around their Sales, Disconnect/Downgrade and Retention departements and got NOWHERE, which simply was that since I could not afford a 40% increase in my service, were they interested in retaining a loyal customer by affording me the same rate. They all dodged my question! HELP!!!

I called Sprint since my contract expired but they charged me an activation fee and taxes on my new phone. I kept my old plan and got 500 texts added for $1. I tried the better deal angle but the reps I spoke to sent me to the Disconnect group. Fortunately, the rep in Disconnect was better to deal with. Just my two cents.
