To keep your home cooler during HOT summer days open the windows very early in the morning before the sun has a chance to heat things up. Drop the shades so only the open window is exposed. As soon as the temps begin to rise close the windows and drop the shades completely. Turn on the fan. This will help keep the house cooler without costing alot.

Also, soaking your feet in a pan of cool water is very refreshing and cools off your whole body after half an hour or so.
