Forbes.com recently put together a list of tips for how to save money on back-to-school shopping. A couple of examples from the list:
Go Online: “The Web is a great place to find sales, competitive prices and store coupons. Many sites also promote free shipping during prime back-to-school shopping so you can avoid the mall altogether”
Don’t Snub Discounters: “There's nothing wrong with trading down to discounters or off-price retailers like Wal-Mart and TJ Maxx. Many of these retailers stock great brands and fashion-forward merchandise, and they're perfect for staples like T-shirts and jeans. Target has clothes from the Disney Channel original movie Camp Rock, as well as collaborations with fashion designers like Rogan.”
Other tips on the list include:
Think Back-to-School ASAP
Make a List
Take Inventory
Set a Reasonable Budget
Splurge on Accessories
Embrace Tax-Free Holidays
You can read more about each tip by visiting the Forbes article titled
“In Depth: Back-To-School Shopping Tips”.
In a separate article, Forbes also offers up other tips for saving money when back-to-school shopping:
“PayPal launched a back-to-school channel on its Web site earlier this month as a destination for parents to find clothing and supplies that fit their budget. Available on the channel are cash back offers, discounts and other promotions.”
“And since teens like to stand out, says Megan Howard, editor in chief at Gifts.com, it's wise to let them make some of their own purchasing decisions. 'Instead of splurging on clothes, give teens a reasonable budget for an accessory from a brand they enjoy,' she says.”
