I wrote about this last month and just wanted to give folks a heads up that the opportunity to sign up for this class action lawsuit settlement ends tomorrow September 24, 2008.
Just learned that you can register to get 6-9 months of credit monitoring for free as part of a class action settlement. For comparison Myfico.com charges $8.95 per month for their credit monitoring service.
This free credit report offer is part of a proposed settlement of a class action lawsuit filed against TransUnion for selling customers profiles to third parties.
Consumers can choose several potential settlement options which include:
1) Six free months of credit monitoring services, the possibility to receive cash benefits in the event of a cash distribution, and the right to file an individual lawsuit.
2) Nine free months of enhanced monitoring services if you forgoe the opportunity to recieve any potential cash payments and will not be able to file an individual lawsuit against the Defendants.
3) Potential Cash Payment (If Available)
4) Six Months of Credit Monitoring
To be eligible you need to meet the following requirements which should cover most people with a credit card:
All consumers who had an open credit account or an open line of credit from a credit grantor located in the United States at any time during the period January 1, 1987 to May 28, 2008.
You must register by: September 24, 2008
