9 Household Items to Use as Toys for Kids

In many cases, great toys for kids aren't just the kind that you overpay for at the mall. Play time options are all around if you use some creativity. And your creativity combined with your child's creativity can create some real magic and fun. Here are just a few ideas to get started with from Parenting Squad:

  1. Paper Towel Tube: let kids decorate these, use them as telescopes, stick to bat balloons, use as drum sticks, rhythm sticks, etc. The possibilities are endless.

  2. Old Clothes: clothes that you can no longer wear can be tossed into a big box or chest to be used for dress up. You can put old shoes and accessories in there as well.

  3. Cups: you can use sturdy plastic drinking cups, paper cups or disposable plastic cups to build pyramids with. Have your kids stack them up and knock them down.
