Good Tip!!..Might i also add that you need to eyeball your car before it leaves the lot. Don't be afraid to look under the hood and have the mechanic point out what he removed and did to your car. I had a timing belt replaced on my subaru from Pep Boys one year and i found that the mechanic had not only snapped off a bold stud on my oil pump he didn't even put in the hardware around the belt cover. I inspect aircraft for quality control but this was a no brainer. Bolts dont hang out without nuts attached!! I took it back to the repair shop and when they tried to slide me the fix-it-right-the-second-time bill i slid it right back and say, YOUR PAYING FOR THIS!!they got the manager and and walaa they paid up in full. I've talked to a few repair shops and they say they are having a hard time gettig qualified mechanics. I was also told that the mechanics get paid by how many services they do so the more cars they run through the more they make. Whats this mean to you: cheap work for full price. Don't get ripped off by shoddy workmanship. A tip for the ladies. Many of these shops know that most women aren't auto experts and some will try to pull a fast one on you. If possible grab a guy and take him with you when you drop off and pick up, or if thats not likely see if he can call the dealership and say that you will drop it off. Sorry if that sounds chauvinist but the reality is is that its true. Caviat Emptor!!
