How We Saved Money on My Daughter's Wedding |
My daughter was married in April, 2008. There were so many ways that we cut the costs.
Think of having cupcakes instead of a wedding cake. We ordered 105 cupcakes for $40 at Walmart and Walmart has delicious cakes. My brother who is a pastry chef made a small wedding cake for the bride and groom.
Shop at Big Lots and the Dollar Stores. We bought so many things at those stores and it significantly cut the cost. We also made all the centerpieces and used silk flowers which my daughter arranged. We shopped the sales at Hobby Lobby and Michaels.
The wedding and reception was also held at a country club (which we did not belong). The rental price for the reception room included the place settings, set up, wait staff, and clean up. The wedding site rental price included chair set up and take down. The rental prices were very reasonable. We had looked at many places and there were always extra charges for everything. At those places the rental price was for the room only, everything else was an extra charge.
Instead of a seated menu we did a buffet. It was about 1/3 of the per person charge and there was plenty of food left over.
When my son and daughter in law were married her father negotiated a per person price that included the meal and the open bar. That saved a ton of money.
