Free Voice Calls with Google+ Hangouts

Skype is a great way to get free calls to other Skype users, but what about when you need to make a call to someone who doesn't have access to a computer or a smartphone? With Google+ Hangouts, you don't have to be in front of a computer to enjoy free phone calls. Start by using the Hangouts with extras link. Then you're able to invite up to two new participants when you type in their numbers.

Here's how you do it:

  1. Click the "Invite" at the top of the hangouts with extra window.

  2. Click the "Phone" tab on the left of the window and then enter the phone number you'd like to call.

  3. Click "Call now."



With this feature, you won't get the video conferencing or file sharing features, but you'll be able to conference with people with non-smartphones for free!

You can make free domestic calls from your g-mail account. Just look on the menu on the lower left of your account, and click on "call phone." A keypad will appear on the lower right and you just use it like a phone. Very cool. The only problem is that you can't receive incoming calls this way.

Yes, you can. Set up a Google Voice account, (free for now). Forward your Google Voice number to your cellular or wired phone number and when somebody calls your Google Voice number you can get the incoming call by answering the phone or cell.

There are also breakout boxes you can buy which will connect to your network router in such a way that you can pick up any phone connected to the box and dial out through Google Voice without the need for sitting in front of your computer.
