Salvage Clean Water from Your Air Conditioner

Submitted by: denise houser  11/28/2008 5:58 PM

Tips of all types are one my favorite resources for greening my home. Therefore I enter one which has not
appeared in my reading.

Depending upon the type and location of whole house, window or freestanding air conditioners you can collect the large amount of water your air conditioner produces for use in many other ways. Why not use it to water growing plants in or out of doors, wash almost anything that tolerates cold water, flush a commode, scrub a porch or floor, wash windows and screens, rinse cans, jars and bottles for recycling, etc.

This also works for dehumidifiers. In the summer i run a dehumidifier in my basement and use the water that accumulates in the bin to water my flowers. I simply keep a watering can by the back door and empty the dehumidifier bin into the can. Free water for my plants!
