The Gift Closet

Submitted by: jasemine  11/29/2008 11:35 PM

I use an out of the way shelf in my clothes closet to store small gifts that I find on sale, at yard sales, etc. When I need something for a birthday child or other gift-giving occasion, I shop at home first. I keep my gifts out of reach/site to avoid temptation for my own children. Occasionally, however, I may choose something for my own little ones from the stash--when one is sick, for example. This cuts down greatly on those trips to town to purchase "a little something". I also stay stocked on greeting cards, wraping paper and bags, etc--also purchased on sale. "Being prepared" in this way, saves time, money, gas, and stress.

I've heard this referred to as a "Nancy Reagan Closet" and have started my own. When I need a silent auction item to take to a charity event I simply look in my closet and find something that I have purchased on sale to donate. Works great!!
