8 Frugal Recipes That the Obama Family Loves

Submitted by: Tip Hero  06/07/2012 11:57 AM

Take a look at some great recipes that are yummy, frugal, and fit for the White House!

  1. Michelle's Broccoli Soup: this couldn't be easier to throw together. All you'll need are some simple veggies, like onion, celery, garlic and of course broccoli, chicken stock, sour cream, butter and salt and pepper.

  2. Barrack's Fast and Easy Chili: the fact that the president of the United States can prepare this recipe, among the many things has to do in a day, tells you that this is one easy-to-prepare recipe! Use ground beef or turkey, red kidney beans, roam tomatoes, shredded cheese, sour cream, onion, bacon (yum!) and a variety of spices to create this presidential favorite.

  3. Cauliflower Mac and Cheese: here's a favorite of the Obama children! Use penne, milk, shredded cheses, cauliflower and bread crumbs for this delicious mac and cheese from scratch.

  4. Creamless "Creamed" Spinach: this is a healthy side dish created by a White House chef. All you'll need is the spinach, olive oil, shallots, garlic salt and pepper.

I'm sure it's both healthful and tasty, but I don't think any recipe that calls for baby spinach and shallots qualifies as frugal.

The Obama's need to cook frugally?..as if the White House doesn't have chefs, on their income!
