Easy Cleaning Solution for Stained Tupperware

Saving leftovers in tupperware is the frugal way to be, but things like spaghetti sauce can wreak havoc on tupperware and turn it into one messy piece of plastic. My American Confessions has a strategy for cleaning out your tupperware that they swear by.

Here's what to do:

  1. Fill your tupperware to the top with warm water and a squirt of dish soap.

  2. Add in 1/4 cup of bleach.

  3. Put the container with the solution in the microwave for 40 seconds, or until the solution boils.

  4. Let it rest until the water it luke-warm.

  5. Wash your container out very thoroughly.



After using this method, your tupperware should look just like new.

When I think I'm going to be using something
in one of my plastic storage containers that might stain it, such as anything with tomato sauce, I give a light spray with non stick spray before filling the container.
(better to try to prevent the discoloration than clean it once it's happened).

This works well and I think I may have gotten this tip from Tiphero awhile ago.
