Foaming Hand Soap Savings

Submitted by: anonymous  12/13/2008 12:05 PM

My kids love the foaming hand soaps; however, rather than buying a new pump every time the old one empties, I save the old pump, buy a large hand soap refill (Wal-Mart for under $4), put approximately 1-inch in the bottom of the old pump, fill the rest with water, gently mix, and voila! you have new foaming hand soap. A large bottle refill will sometimes last us 8 months or more.

works well and is a great 'trick' to use. But be aware that the 'creamy' soaps don't work in the foaming pumps. And don't fill with water over the foaming part because it'll clog. I also use the same idea for that 'foaming dish soap' dispenser.

I use this idea for hand soap but not dish soap because the dish soap tends to be not strong enoguh after adding water. With hand soap it works great!

I made my own by grating a simple glycerin no scent bar of soap; put into 48 oz of boiling water: or can just put flakes into water til dissolved; either way works; & put into an empty dishwashing soap container; it "gels"; do wait til cools a bit tho b/4 putting into container; I then put into a "soap" dispenser adding additional water to it; my grandkids love it to use as a "body gel" in bathtub; adding hydrogen peroxide 3% to it for face & other parts where break outs occur works better than anything on the market for acne.

PLEASE PLEASE do NOT USE ANTIBIOTIC soaps! These contain toxins that enter your skin & make you immune to antibiotics when you get ill creating "super bugs"; if instead, you simply add hydrogen peroxide to ANY SOAPS or just wash your hands in THIS ONLY: it kills bacteria & VIRUSES! folks! And no super bugs, no harmful toxins; is NOT safe to drink; does need to be kept in dark containers as breaks down in the light. Can usually find 2 for $1 at the $1 store!

I love this so much. I use hand soap and would love to have it last a long time. Thanks so much, I'm going to make some as soon as I log off!

Rubbermaid makes a dispenser too. It's not very expensive, and it works well. I use it for dishes all the time, and I use a normal dish detergent. I'm sure it would work for hand soap too.

I dilute my dishwashing liquid and put it in a spray bottle.Half soap and half water is about right. Great for quick cleaning in the sink when using the dish washer is not an option.
